LEVEL LETTERS & TROP GRAMMAR VOCAB/COMP CONVERASATION TORAH & SIDDUR TEFILAH PROJECT
ALEPH (1) Sing the Aleph-Bet song three times;
(2) Make the sound of 3 Hebrew vowels by recongnizing them;

(3) Say the name and make sound of 3 Hebrew letters by recognizing them.

Show how to open a Hebrew book from Right to Left. Learn words #1-5 from the Yerusha Hebrew Word List. Learn the following phrases in Hebrew: (a) What's that? (b) My name is... Learn the Hebrew names of the following people: Abraham, Sarah, Moses. For each Blessing / Prayer in this column: recite the prayer and explain its meaning in 1-2 sentences. Reciting may be done by memorization or by reading the prayer from the Hebrew or transliteration. Prayer may be spoken, sung or hand-signed.

(1) Blessing for Shabbat Candles; (2) First line of Shema.

Make an art project featuring 2 or more Hebrew letters in your name (ex: door hanging for your room).
BET (1) Sing the Aleph-Bet song by memory;

Choose 1 Hebrew letter and make a 3-D version of the letter (e.g. with straws, popsicle sticks or natural materials). Show and explain your project to your parent(s) and chavurah
GIMEL (1) Make the sound of all the vowels by recongnizing them; (2) Say the name and make sound of 16 Hebrew letters by recognizing them. (1) Explain the difference between a normal letter and final letter;
(2) identify a mem sofit (final Mem).
Learn words #16-25 from the Yerusha Hebrew Word List. (1) Count to five in Hebrew.

Learn four names for God used in the Bible. (1) Barchu;

Draw a picture of your family and identify each person by their relationship in Hebrew (e.g. Mother = imah).
DALED (1) Identify all 22 Hebrew letters by their sound and names.
(2) Learn to write 5 Hebrew letters in script form.

Make your own letter chart or set of flashcards of the Hebrew letters. Keep it for the next Hebrew level.
HEY (1) Identify all 22 Hebrew letters in standard and final form by their sound and names.
(2) Learn to write all the letters in script form.
Explain the concept of a Hebrew root. Learn words #41-60 from the Yerusha Hebrew Word List. Learn the following phrases in Hebrew: (a) Excuse me, (b) Thank you, (c) Please, (d) I'm tired, (e) Awesome! Point out the difference between vowels and trop (cantillation) symbols in a biblical text. (1) Ahavat Olam;
(2) Avot / gevurot;
(3) Aleinu - first paragraph
(1) Teach the Aleph-Bet song to a new member;
(2) Add script letters to your Hebrew chart or flashcards.
VAV LETTER LEARNING ENDS; CANTILLATION BEGINS BELOW. (1) Explain the use of the specific-heh.
(2) Conjugate the verb amar in the present tense.
Create a vocabulary list of the 60 words you have learned so far. The list must contain the word in Hebrew script and at least one translation for each. Learn to use the following questions in Hebrew: (a) where? (b) why? (c) how? (d) how many? (e) when? (f) what time is it? Choose a sentence of at least six Hebrew words from the siddur or bible. Sound out each of the words in the sentence. Copy the sentence into Hebrew script. (1) L'chu n'ranena;

ZAYIN Learn the name and tune of these cantillation symbols (Torah trop): merchah, tipchah, etnachtah, sof pasuk. (1) Conjugate the verb amar in the past tense.
(2) Explain how Hebrew nouns and adjectives have gender-based rules and give examples.
Learn the meaning of the following words: (20 new words TBD). Add them to your vocabulary list. Explain 4 words in Hebrew associated with your favorite hobby or sport. Choose a prayer from the Yerusha siddur. Copy the entire prayer into script form, without vowels. (1) Aleinu - second paragraph;
(2) Hetzi kaddish;
(3) Hashkiveinu
